Nice post, but what was preventing Nor'easters from mid January to mid February? It was wet, but precipitation was mostly rain, usually right afterward a warm spell. Polar jet too far north or tilted in a strong diagonal? No polar low? Usually the rainstorms were associated with a strong short-lived eastern ridge rather than a trough. I could dig up some old maps later, but don't feel like it at the moment.
No blocking. No negative NAO so storms were in and out. Also lack of northern jet stream in February hence more rain than snow. I think we did have a couple of coastals but notice the recent ones have lasted 12-24hrs vs like a 6hr event. North Atlantic blocking really slows things down. Gives a chance for a storm to strengthen too.
Hey gentlearts, nice to see you in the weather forum! I love that forecast. Not too hot, not too cold. Cant wait actually. You guys must be in full spring mode?

I know what i want 100%. I want temps year round for highs around 72 and lows around 62 and dew points never over 50 degrees. I want a no name storm every month in the winter and spring and a Cat 1 hurricane every month the rest of the year and 10" of rain every month. What i don't want is 100% sunshine for 90 days at a time and dew points in the 80's and lows of 82 and no rain for 3 to 8 months at a time.
Just had the strongest storm I've had in a while! Kind of surprised that no warnings were issued. Some strong wind gusts came thru and branches down from trees. A number of lightning strikes. Not really a lot of rain, maybe half an inch.
Wow, just saw this! I thought I saw a low cloud.
Tornado maybe or straight line winds? BTW what you're getting now is our energy for the NorEaster in 36hrs. Sounds like a lot of atmospheric energy according to your comments

Yup.. Incredible!
Current map! There's the 2 streams right there and look how moist the southern Stream is. Gees.
Billions of other planets out there. Now if we could ever even make it to Mars let alone another planet light years away ray.
I am picky about my weather. I like big swings in the winter from hot to super cold with big ball buster fronts and rain like we had in the 80's. I like my summers to have a normal southeast windflow were i at least get rain 4 times a week instead of a reverse west windflow were i go 3 weeks with no rain or clouds during the summer. You can't tell me something is not wrong with the planets weather since around 1990.

Well you would like our summer T storms when we have a southeast windlfow that is very rare now.
Nothing like seeing build ups blow up about 20 miles east of Tampa when it hits that sea breeze causing lift to make very strong T - storms. That was like it was in the 50's thru the 70's. Then in the mid 80's it just stopped.
It is as if the whole pattern has changed to less rain and much more heat year round in the last 28 years with the biggest ramp up since 2010.
