Yesterday's high made it to 33 F. Started snowing overnight and picked up 1.8", nice white coating on the ground now . Low this morning so far has been 24F.
At 6AM, the temperature in Athens, GA was 26°F, which is the coldest observed since January 31 (24°F). Odds are long, but if the temperature somehow goes below 24°F this morning, then it'll be the coldest temperature observed in Athens since January 18.
This could be our last morning with temperatures in the 20s for the winter of 2017-2018, though low temperatures are forecast to be near freezing for a few days in the middle of next week before a major warmup next weekend, so one of those mornings could be the last if the low temperature ends up a few degrees lower than forecast. Regardless, it appears that the cold temperatures will be done for the winter by St. Patrick's Day here, after which AccuWeather is forecasting low temperatures from the mid-40s to mid-50s for the remainder of March.
All in all, I'm glad that the first week of March has been nice and cold, and that next week will stay nice and cold. It makes up for the hideously warm February we had, and it's a good way to close the book on what was overall a decent winter, and our first worthwhile winter since 2014-2015.

It's only 2 degrees colder in Western PA then Georgia
Add other 8" in the mountains of western PA. They are now over 9 feet for the season (still need about 40" to hit their seasonal average of 153" though)
Today is a remind why I love ULL's! They produce snow showers, flurries, squalls, rain showers when not cold enough, they keep surface cool, its cloudy, sunny, and produces cool looking clouds at times.
Love Upper Level Lows! Only thing is..I'm done with winter now! Lets move on!
Snowing here with the sun out.
Last 4 hrs
40° and the snow isn't melting as fast as yesterdays 38° with sun. Still looking fresh though considering it is March
So much cleanup is needed. Lots of Trees, branches, shrubs damage
Yup.. models continue the cool flow for the East. The trough is back.
There is a warm up after mid month but might be only few days then back to a NW flow
I think things will dry out now. Will I finally get 4 days in a row without precip????!!!
Looks like this spring will be the coldest and driest on record for some people.
Gonna be more dry this March thru May than last year. Most of the rain will miss me this Sunday also and the bulk will stay south of me. Take it to the bank. And i had no rain at all last March and Apr. And this time around will be even more dry. I see no real rain till June 12th.
