Back in domestic place.
Today, cloudy, rain from time to time, about 5c, mild for the middle of winter for local standards.

This one looks still nice:

Every morning at 7am I report my 24hr snow or rain totals and snow depth. Every 'other' morning I report my liquid of the snowpack.

This morning while it was 6°F (-14C) and felt like -10°F (-23C) with the wind I was grabbing my core sample.

Got my ruler, gauge, and Spatula ready...

Measured the depth.. Turned gauge upside down and pushed down.

Slid the spatula underneath the opening and flipped it right side up. Whalah.. the Core. Now bring inside to melt

Instead of waiting hours or using a hair dryer, just add measured amounts of hot water to the snow tube, keeping track of what you added to subtract from the total...

8" of snow melted to 0.97" liquid this morning.

Love the winter. Fun stuff!

Gotta love the architecture of Stockholm. Way nicer than atrociously bland Umeå.

There are christmas trees everywhere. This one was just dropped from the balcony.

And here's a christmas tree parking lot.

It's so refreshing to see green grass too. And green bushes, and large rhododendron. Even roses, and wild holly. Nice.

January 6, 2018

Air Temp: 8°F (-13C)
Winds: Gusting from North over 20mph
Wind Chill: 5-10 Below Zero (-20-23C)
5000' Temp: -7°F (-21C)

Clothes: Jeans, Tshirt, Fleece, Heavier fleece with hoodie, wool socks, Hat, 1 Glove.

Westport, CT

In Beach Parking lot

Walking toward the water.... Stiff North Wind!

It's starting..

Norwalk, CT::

Looks can be deceiving. Was able to walk on top of half the drift, but I underestimated the depth of it so I sank down couple feet. Wish I got a pic but my ungloved hand was frozen. Was about 1/4 mile to pier.

Open Channel of unfrozen water but Long Island sound is freezing over again. (Like Feb 2015)

Stamford:

Cool drift designs. Snow waves.

Another one

Huh doesn't look nearly as bad as on TV. Has CT been less affected by the bomb cyclone?

Yeah, Beaches and Downtown areas will always look less dramatic. No flooding in CT like Boston. Also, for 2 days now there's been constant strong north winds and its blowing the "powdery" snow away into 2-3 foot drifts. so wont look like 7-10" fell overall.. Also looks deceiving. Take my word as I sunk down quite a few inches where I thought was "flat". lol

I'm in process of uploading a quick video of mine. Been busy with maps and stuff.

View from my kitchen during the Blizzard. Ended up with 10 inches.

Speaking of "Bomb Cyclone" ... What do I do!?? lolol

Fine till the wind was hitting it. Felt like below 0F for sure. When wind wasn't blowing I swear it didn't feel cold and I didn't have a jacket on. 3 layers was fine. But my hands always get cold. Cant find good gloves.
