Man, that would have been a zinger of a storm. I'll take that rain, though.

I do want 2-3 more really big snow storms. Once I get that, I'll be satisfied with this season.

The dew point rose from -8F (-22C) on Sunday to 66F (19C) today. I'm not sure I've ever seen it swing 74F (41C) like that before.

My backyard temp and dews. Went from struggling past teens & 20s with a blizzard to now almost 60° and raining hard.. Dews in upper 50s, very high for January.

Fog is thick in spots

It is a setup for this..

Friday-Saturday where will the storm track???

Senario #1 gives Western Kentucky, Indiana, and Western Ohio a snowstorm after the rain

Senario #2 gives TN mountains, Eastern Kentucky, Eastern Ohio, West Virginia, & Western PA a snowstorm after the rain.

Curious what West Virginia says..
Nice inverse omega pattern there. Relief for the Northeast.

Loop last 4 hours with metars on. Look at that Gulf and Atlantic flow!

Looks like some purples over Indianapolis now. The end is near so hopefully they can accumulate some snow before it's done

Changing over in Ohio and Kentucky as the day moves on

yeah I agree, Eastern Ridges don't last long but we get prolonged warmth with zonal flow. Maybe that's why our extreme range in winter is less? Less time with a ridge?

yeah, today for sure you can see the pack texture changing. Getting nastier now with the warm temps. Funny how cold = fresh. Warmth = nasty. See? cold is better.

Yeah because the upper level flow is pretty flat over the Pacific there so its forcing all moisture against the west coast.

Looks like it might be heavier in the suburbs? I see some darker blues around but its lighter in downtown there. Looks like its fluff stuff too with temps in the teens.

11amCST map.

60s in Arkansas. 20s in Oklahoma.
50s in Illinois, teens in Iowa.

Nice, 80's along Eastern seaboard of Northern Florida. 70's in SC where it was 20's last week.

You're right! Didn't realize the ridge popped in the West now. Poor California. Just when they were getting the rains. Guess they can use the break from the flooding though.

Current map with Upper Heights. Omega Block! In the spring time I don't want this kind!

In Spring I want the Omega Block like April 2016. (Top pic below) (so fun to go back on our posts of the past. )

Its back, but this time the Ridge is not in Western & Eastern US. We are in the trough part of it which is keeping us cool, cloudy, and rainy

Here in Indy we had some freezing rain this morning but most a few hours of sleet pounding the windows. Then a bit of a break from pre-dawn until mid-morning. It's been off-and-on snowing since. Main roads were in decent shape in the city, more slushy than ice and it helps that it was mid-50s until midnight last night. Dropped 20 degrees in 2 and a half hours from 55 at 11PM to 35 at 1:30AM. All schools around here are closed which made traffic lighter this morning, too. Now, though, the snow is putting a coating on things, probably about an inch so far. The edge of it seems so close but it is taking its sweet time getting here. I'm more concerned with the afternoon commute as the sun sets and the slushy wet roads refreeze along with the inch or two of snow falling.

62F out there. 95% humidity and rain. Complete and utter ****en garbage. At least it's not sunny, last thing we need is warm temps and sun.

Luckily, next week is a major improvement so a couple of bad days is not irredeemable.
