Super hot in California, wow.

I see 99F up near the Canadian border in Washington state, I'm guessing Oroville or Omak.
100F along the Columbia valley between Oregon and Washington, around The Dalles.

Conversely looks fallish in the NE.

The good thing is that the temperatures will be much closer to average next week in Santa Maria.

Meanwhile it's a wet cool day across the Northeast. Central and South Jersey may see some sunshine this afternoon, but the northern part of the state may remain on the dreary side.

60f and overcast here in upstate ny. Certainly does not feel at all like an early sept day.

I think areas west of the Sierras/Cascades are getting downsloping winds adding to their heat
