Not unusual for how dry and sunny it is. The range is about 0.6C greater than winter where I am, but with only half the rainfall.

3 times in 8 years doesn't really qualify as rare -I wonder if that represents an unusually snow period?

South America like North America has experienced some history-breaking cold shots the past few years

Snow itself isn't so rare, specially in higher areas, but this time it was quite heavy and accumulated in every parts of the city down to 400m.

I just got into the car to check the temperature. I do it often because I don't have a thermometer outside my house.

Didn't know you could see posts statistics. It's surprising that the top 4 posters are all from South America. Considering this is an English speaking forum I would've expected more activity from Australians and New Zealanders. Also, is anyone in the weather forum from South Africa?

There is nothing really to comment on about winter this year. I did use to post a bit more, but found there wasn't much feedback.

Meanwhile, Bariloche is a winter wonderland today. Photos in the spoiler

Spoiler

The official meteo station there

Here right now 12ºC and i can feel the air is starting to change. Polar mass is closer!

And in the country, Esquel is at -5.8ºC whereas in the north Formosa has 30.7ºC

Seems like it snowed more in Bariloche than in Esquel this time.

I know it'll never happen but I'd love if the Nahuel Huapi Lake froze and snow accumulated over the ice. That'd require many consecutive days where the daily mean stays below 0°C.

Pretty sure it's not a "Polar mass".
