You're just pulling things from out of your arse now Dean. Last August was almost identical to the long-term averages in terms of temperature and sunshine, and I didn't hear people complain about how 'awful' the weather was - except a few days later in the month when the weather was warm and humid (people moan a hell of a lot more when the weather is hot - even you have to admit that). It wasn't wall-to-wall sunshine every day but the weather was largely agreeable - most days were mostly or partly cloudy with temps around 21-22C. Can you tell me what the problem is with that? Unless you plan on lounging by the pool every day you shouldn't have a problem with that at all.
Honestly, people are so weird.
And yeah, people will happily mention the Brits who move to Spain - mostly retirees or young people who don't have to work a 9-5 job like the majority of adults. And a third of them move back home anyway because a life in the sun isn't so great after all. Those who stay - great, less moaning arseholes. The UK is full of them already.
So who actually likes English weather then? You're telling me that if you walk around the streets and ask people if they like it, the majority will say yes? Of course they bloody wouldn't!
"Mostly or partly cloudy, with temps around 21-22c. Can you tell me what the problem is with that?" Seriously, does that even need answering...
British people crave warmth and sun, and typical English weather provides neither.
I find it a little strange how every summer the London posters do seem to get all excited about any prospects or forecasts of hotter than avg weather, and will tell you exactly how many days are over every threshold above 75F lol. That strikes me as odd, and almost as if many there crave more heat than they get. But, at the same time they will mightily defend the avg summer temps as very pleasant and wouldn't ever want the hot and humid summers here. Do you notice that?
Simple reason. They are warm weather lovers and London doesn't get much warm weather, so they get excited when it does happen. Like I get excited when temps exceed 90 degrees here during the summer Only happens around 23 days a year (just 18 at ORD). So, I cherish those 3 weeks a year, and yes I do get jealous at locations in Southern Illinois, that average 40 days of 90 degree heat.
Of course my threshold for "warmth" may be different then someone in England, as I am only minimally satisfied with an average summer here. Which is why you see me all excited if the models hint of heatwaves.
Look at that, our lows are warmer than in the Northeast, but our highs are not. So it feels like early summer (as it should) in the morning, but in the afternoon, it's only mid-April.
See right there I have no idea what he is saying. The guy has a problem with plain straight to the point English.
He also needs to stop pretending that he has no anti warm bias agenda when he forecasts for energy companies, but that is a topic for another discussion. He isn't at Accuweather anymore.
