We now reached the point where the UV index is above 1 which means snow melts even on cold days.

It is -12.4C outside now but the sun is out and melting the streets and roofs.

The graphic suggests the entire country will be cold but just watch, the Pacific Northwest and SoCal be above average again like they have been for the past six or seven years. I dont even remember the last time either of those places had a below average month

Don't know about the rest of the PNW but December 2013 and especially February 2014 were a fair bit colder than average in Vancouver.

Though you're right for the most part that it's been very mild in recent years.

UV index up to 4. Really noticing the sun's power now vs the last couple of months. Even my unexposed skin felt hot standing in the sun just now.

The sun really is a huge player now, in the morning and around noon it feels much nicer standing in the sun, even if it's just 1c like today

I keep forgetting you're upstate. Still surprised it's only 1C where you are, it's about 8C here.

I will probably go to NY for the weekend. Unfortunately that's the deal upstate, you're constantly about 10f colder than what you would see in the city
