It was disappointing, though, because we didn't get any snow (bar an extremely light flurry for about 10 minutes around the 5th). I'd be okay with a repeat, but if we're gonna have a cold March, I'd prefer one like 2014, with more variation and some frozen precipitation. However, there was a rain sleet mix on April 4, 2013, which is the only time I've seen frozen precipitation in April in my area.

I imagine March 1969 was one of the best Marches in my area. There was 9" of snow on the 1st, and highs were mostly in the 40s to start the month, with gradual warming to highs in the 60s at the end of the month.
March 1960 also looks good, but I wouldn't want that level of cold (average temp 47/28) or snow (14") every March.
March 2013 was cool and dry here. We had 7 nights with lows at or below freezing. March 26, 2013 had a low of 25F!

March 2013 averaged 48/31ºF here with 6 days of measurable snow, and 4 more with a trace.

Dont get how someone can switch like that so fast. One or the other cant be too real then.

Like maybe you dont want extreme cold beginning of March and instead prefer it seasonable then switch to extreme warm end of March through the summer?

This was a pretty ideal year for me. Cold winter (09/10), a pretty average spring aside for April which was quite mild. March was a bit above average too. July and August were good. Could have seen more 90 degree days though. October and November were milder than normal, and that December was cold.

At least it's Eastern Europe this time, I got tired of seeing England and Spain steal all the warmth for the past few years

We only stole the warmth in March 2012 and March 2014; March 2013 was the coldest March on record at Heathrow. The last time we had a good May was probably 2008, and before that 2003. We are well overdue a warm and sunny, settled May.

Your recent winters have been above normal, and you also had several April months that have been exceptionally mild too

We also had a spell from 2008-2011 with very cold winters, including the coldest December in the entire record.

But you've had really mild winters each year since 2012. Even this year the Polar Vortex danced around you, it went to East Asia, Eastern Europe, Eastern US, but for the past few years it always goes avoids Western Europe and Western US. Nights in Stoke have not been cold and rainy in quite a while
