From yesterday evening

NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE BILLINGS MT
908 PM MST FRI FEB 26 2016

LEE SIDE PRESSURE FALLS WILL CONTINUE THROUGH THE EVENING. THIS
WILL PRODUCE SOME INCREASE IN THE PRESSURE GRADIENT ACROSS THE
WESTERN FOOTHILLS. DUE TO THE RELATIVELY WARM BOUNDARY LAYER
THOUGH...THE STABLE LAYER AT MOUNTAIN TOP MAY NOT BE THAT STRONG
AND THUS LIMIT TO SOME EXTENT THE GAP FLOW OVERNIGHT. THAT
SAID...WE MAY PUSH OUR ADVISORY CRITERIA AND THIS WILL NEED TO BE
MONITORED...BUT LOCAL RESEARCH GUIDANCE IS GIVING ONLY A MODEST
SIGNAL FOR GAP FLOW AT THIS TIME.

FOR THIS UPDATE...INCREASED OVERNIGHT LOWS SOME IN THE FOOTHILLS
DUE TO PERSISTENT MIXING THAT IS EXPECTED.

True, wow. Although it happens. And this isn't even a largely amplified pattern. When its amped the Ridge will be into Canada more and the trough south more so you'll find Canada with warmer temps than Florida or Caribbean too.

Absolutely gorgeous day out there here. Clear blue skies AGAIN, with temps in mid 30s. Enjoy it guys!

Here's a look at the lunchtime temps

For Florida you mean? Just thought it was interesting how the deep south had the same or even slightly colder temperatures than we did, I guess the warmer airmass was already seeping in here.

It warmed up quickly down there, though. 63F at Cecil Field (Jacksonville) after a low of 27.

We had frosts the past 3 mornings even though it didn't reach freezing (it got down to 33-35F). Probably won't have any frosts next week with forecast lows in the 40's and 50's. Highs in the 60's and 70's.

I wonder if we'll have any good cold snaps during March.

Bismarck reached 73F today. That's a new all-time record for the month of February. Previous was 69F.

Their morning low was 25F.
