Yup, but I think the upper level energy is still in the atmosphere as that rotates around. I should play the loop for Europe to see what it does and where it goes after there.

Awesome video! Wow! Almost went vertical after riding the crest. lol

GFS12z left for Fridays storm. Separate from the Northern Stream/Clipper again and well off shore... Nada.

Interesting that it's almost similar situation to the Jan 15-16 storm. Remember I was saying the timing was just off!? Well, this looks to be off again.

Then remember I said the Pattern was so ripe for a big one? Well, the pattern is continuing! Just a matter of getting both Jet Streams to dance again.

With one week left, JB's January forecast is pretty close to verifying. Let's see what the temperatures do this week to change the average. Much better than the CFSv2.

The deep freeze is over for now. It's in the 40s again for the first time since last Saturday.

satellite image of snowcover. It'd be interesting to check if the snow cover is reducing temperatures so it's actually cooler to the south

No, colder further south but not really any warmer either. If it were March with the stronger sun, there'd be a bigger difference.

Jan 28 Storm: Eastern New England still in the game. EuroEnsembles phase the Jets enough for snowstorm for Boston. Snow down to NYC(light), Eastern Canada gets slammed.

Feb 3rd Storm: cuts to Great Lakes. Guess what that means! Warm East! Big snowstorm Plains/Upper Midwest.

Eastern U.S

1st Week Feb - Warm
2nd Week Feb - Seasonable

After mid month we could get an Arctic outbreak and another big snowstorm or just more snow chances with Clippers and stuff.

Haven't checked the models but the Feb 3rd storm appears to be a modest snow storm? maybe event is the right word for New England. Rained mixed here, but all snow further up north.

So let me guess, Chicago will be in the warm sector of that storm right?
