The grass is starting to become quite yellow in Vancouver now. Usually this doesn't happen until early/mid July but we've had an extremely dry spring this year.
We had the driest and 2nd warmest May on record and June has been warmer than average and much drier than average so far (will probably be record setting dryness or close to it). Only 11mm of rain since the beginning of May - 4.2mm in May, 6.8mm in June.

Yeah similar look here! Despite not being particularly warm (May below average, June average so far though cool nights) we have had no rain since 14th May.. looks very brown around here.
Took this picture yesterday evening for the tree. Very weird tree but it looks like the monkey tree that B87 was talking about. Very brown lawn!
And here we have the parikeet which are very common around here. An absolute nuisance, they swarm the cherry tree and leave bird poop all over my garden!
