Due to the very mild winter we've been having this year, a few cherry trees have started blooming. I thought I'd post some photos to get a head start on spring
Wow that is early indeed. I don't think I've ever seen my grannie's flower this early before.
I'm guessing it's a different tree to ours as I'm sure it's usually quite a late bloomer here, around April I think.
When do cherry blossoms normally begin blooming in Vancouver?
Usually around mid-March is when things start noticeably blooming here, although there are always a few buds here and there before that (I typically see a few bushes starting to bud in early February).
It's been very mild this winter and in particular this past month, especially at night - last night's low was 10°C and most of the coming week is supposed to have lows above 5°C and we've only had four frosts the entire month. So it's been very gentle on the trees and plants.
We've also had way more double-digit Celsius highs in December and January than normal, which I'm sure helps as well. Right now as I'm typing this it's 14°C, which beats the previous record high of 11.8°C for today.
A few photos of my own:

Reason: Adding photos
It's definitely starting to feel like spring in Vancouver It was only 7°C when I was out but it easily felt like 10 or 12 with the sunshine. Lots of trees are starting to bud in downtown Vancouver, feels more like mid-March than late January
I am shocked! I never experienced this at the end of January! The earliest period that trees in my region starting to blossom is mid February! But pictures are nice!
