In Oklahoma City January 1930 was the coldest January on record and February 1930 was the third warmest February on record. February was 27.8°F/15.5°C warmer than January that year. The normal difference is around 4°F/2°C.
In Rochester, the warmest June ever also set the June record low. June 1949 had a mean of 73.0, the warmest on record, but also recorded a minimum of 35, the June record low.
The average high that month was 85.5, 3.2 warmer than the next warmest June. Only December 2015 had an average high father above the second warmest month at 3.6 degrees above 1982.
Days (24-hr)/year with temperature (lows) -10°C / 14°F or colder in regional Norwegian cities in 1971-2000 and 1997-2016.
Cold winter days fallen from 30 /year to nearly half in Tromsø!
Same weather stations for these two periods. Airports used for Trondheim, Kristiansand and Stavanger.
Shorter winter, longer summer.

Can harm infrastructure (heavy rain/flash floods)
Capel Curig in North Wales, which is in a mountain valley but is still known more for really high rain totals than for cold pooling, had a record low of -11.7C from when the weather station was set up until December 2010, with ice days relatively few and far between, until one day the temperature was randomly standing at -15C in the middle of the day:
The official high temperature that day was -5.6C, which I imagine was the 11 pm reading. If the wind hadn't picked up late in the evening it would have been the coldest day ever recorded anywhere in Wales (the record is -8.0C), even though it's not generally thought of as a likely candidate to beat the record.
