Surface temps (numbers) 850mb temps (shaded). If you are south or east of that purple line and your temps are 32 or below at surface, you're getting freezing rain or sleet. It's basically warmed aloft but the surface is still at or below freezing.
For instance northern CT seeing moisture and temps are below freezing. But notice its above freezing at 4000 feet.
See the Upper Low over Ohio. Surface Low off Del Marva coast.
Good to note There's really not any extreme cold air at all under the Upper low. 850s only -2 to -5..Thats nothing to write home about. But obviously you don't need it to be extremely cold for snow.
The NorEaster will slow down and wait for the Upper Low to catch up and vertically get stacked! Awesome!
any idea when this storem gonna get outta here in central jersey? already a little water in the basement..
Should let up after 7pm this evening but continue into tomorrow then even after being dry for couple hours we'll get some back side precip in the form of snow if there's moisture in the area.
Flooding and Winds is our concern with this storm, others dealing with ice and snow.
When I first heard about a vertically stacked storm it was truly exciting. Last time we had this happen was October 23rd. What a complex storm!
