Also, Not sure if you guys know about the ping project. Its very helpful and useful for NWS. I'm addicted to the app.

It will pick up your location automatically with the phone and then you simply report the precip falling. Download the app called mPing (from Oklahoma)

Latest NAM12z animation of Precip type & MSLP 1am tonight to 7pm tomorrow.

Rain changes to snow on backside north of Delaware. After midnight Wed in NJ, Wednesday afternoon in CT.

Storm comes right over Long Island and southern New England.

Just a small 2 letter difference in the name but a huge difference in the weather.

One near the SW coast, one on the NW hills. Norfolk, the Icebox of CT.

Why is the US data so poor but the Canadian and UKMet better long term ?
Also NEI, where are you in W.MA ? I am near Holyoke.

Here's the track. Coming from Bermuda area getting pulled into Northeast thanks to Upper Low (not seen on this map).

Current look at the 500mb heights. See that bulge downward over Midwest? That's the Upper atmosphere trying to close off a low pressure system at 20,000 feet. That will swing East and catch the coastal storm.

Euro12z sounding for Danbury,CT every 6hrs this morning to 7pm Thurs.

You can see how it was very dry and cold this morning,

then atmosphere levels warm up and rains,

then layers cool down and snows Wednesday night Thursday morning. Has 0.18" qpf of snow there. 1-3"

There's our storm that formed in the Atlantic. 31.80N, -72.0W(red square).

Islip reporting Light snow, snow under the ULL around Upper Mid West.
