haven't posted this in a while.. Latest GFS data for Danbury
You can get an idea of the airmass by the second column.. look at today and tomorrow and keep scrolling down.. You kidding me? So we have a warm pop Wed-Thurs, then don't get one until April 5th!
Temps aloft in the negative teens (single digits F) is impressive for this time of year.
Surface temps (because of sun) wont be as harsh as January but the cold airmasses are near record levels for this time of year..
Bottom line... there's STILL no sustained warm airmasses being shown. Not many 50s. You have to look hard for upper 40s too.
Ugh that looks horrific. I don't think we'll get weather quite that cold, though. Averages are starting to increase very fast, so even below average will be warmer than before but it'll cut into the growing season. Averages in two week increments:
March 8: 43°F/22°F
March 22: 49°F/27°F
April 5: 55°F/31°F
April 19: 61°F/36°F

Yup, something we been saying since January and pretty amazing we'll continue into April. I guess the positive is that it's not Jan-Feb anymore .... but the negative is that 30s & 40s will feel cold for March-April.
I think everyone just wants to get normal temps at least for 3-4 days straight.
Only 4 times in last 2 months max temps above normal at BDR. Minimums have been well below and near record cold
You can see our extreme min temps are in the teens now soon to be 20s. We rarely get into the 20s in April. Lack of 40s and 50s this yr is interesting
Classic late March chilly weather. 35 F/2 C at noon with clear skies. Not much warmth on the horizon. Highest high in the forecast is 57 F/14 C for Thursday.
