I hope that's the pattern for Miami when I'm there in 3 weeks
Lol, I thought you liked our daily thunderstorms? Though I can see why that weather is good for vacationing lol. We do seem to have a higher chance of precipitation into this weekend and next week. June is historically the wettest month here.
My neighbor & I were just trying to guess the temp outside. He said 82. I said 81. Apparently its only 77°. Only thing that explains why it feels so hot and uncomfortable is the humidity.
58° dewpoint
50% humidity
Air temp 77°
Sitting in shade now trying not to find something to do. Lol

September is the wettest month by total, and August by number of rain days.

Hmmm, seems like you're right. I think in the 1971-2000 normals June was the wettest month, so I think that stuck out to me.
Although I'm guessing September being the busiest month of Hurricane Season contributes to its high rainfall total. On years where the tropics aren't very active (like it's been in the last 8-10 years or so) June is easily wetter than September.
PS June is wetter than August by a good bit.
June seems to get the heaviest rainfall of any month as well: Receiving an average of 9.67" over 16.4 days, compared to 8.88" over 18.9 days in August and 9.86" over 17.9 days in September.

I've always been curious why a lot of places on the east coast see a slight decrease in rain days in July, then it ramps up again in August:
Whereas on the Gulf side, it gradually builds to a climax:

Interesting question. I have a theory that since June has the highest sun angle but coolest ocean water of any month, the land/sea differences in temperature are at their greatest, therefore causing stronger sea breezes and more severe storms?
August has the warmest SSTs out of any month, so I think that's just plain ol' humidity at work.

Not sure though.
Hmmm yes the Gulf is a little warmer then.
Interestingly, both Miami and Savannah average more rain days in July than June. It's just that corridor in northeast Florida.

Speaking of which, we just had awesome storm come through. Lots of lightning and high winds.
Interesting because we only had a 20% chance of storms today. Usually when the chances are below 40% I give up lol.
