JB posts those from time to time on twiter. I don't have a source other than that.

This is also disheartening...'

Since we will be updating this forecast on Tuesday, we are now clearly examining all of the latest evidence for clues as to whether we need to make significant colder changes to our December forecast.

The current weather pattern has been historic in many regards, with numerous November cold records being shattered in Colorado and Wyoming. The entrée in this multiple-course meal of cold is coming early next week, with more records in danger across the Midwest. The Chicago office of the National Weather Service has noted that the prolonged stretch of sub-40 weather in early and mid-November is unusual, and the expected seven-day stretch this year has only been matched six other times in the historical record. The December temperature anomalies following those cold periods are shown below.

On the whole, there is not as much blue as one might expect (especially one prone to the tempting allure of ‘recency bias’). In fact, the aggregate of those six years is rather warm across the Midwest (below).

Extended and Extreme November Cold in the Midwest Doesn
So they are thinking about making December forecast colder but now realize most years had a warm December after a November prolonged arctic air?

I'm gonna trust the squirrels here on this one.. December will be cold as well. Screw those analogs. LOL 1995 here we come. LOL!

Something tells me an early Spring is in the works though. Cold 2nd half of fall and 1st half of winter. Then we moderate and warmup on average after mid January. (doesn't mean there cant be February blizzards though) I think the Jet lifts north 2nd half of winter for us (east of Mississippi)

In 2 weeks I start posting in this thread even though with all the snow and cold happening I could of started 2 weeks ago. LOL

^^

I still think that a warm North Pacific + a Modoki El Nino (and possibly Greenland blocking) will give us a ferocious winter. Just look

The ridge has been pumping warmth up to western side of North America since last winter. Current Alaska anomalies

I'm not saying it's going to be AS cold as last year, but by most indications it should be colder than average. Plus in 2012/2013 was WAY above normal

and so was the winter before that
