UGH say it aint so Cambium!!!!!

Belmar, New Jersey (My9NJ) -

Overall, this has been a beautiful summer on the Jersey Shore, but sadly experts say that the Garden State needs to brace for a rough winter ahead.

An article recently published by Acuweather.com predicts a frigid winter full of snow! Meteorologist Bob Smerbeck elaborated on the potential forecast.

“We predict for New Jersey there will be an above normal snowfall pattern,” he said.

What that means for New Jerseyans is that the weather will likely get particularly cold early and that there will be very active winter weather patterns as soon as November and December.

While beachgoers along the shore don't even want to think about snowfall right now, Garden State Sealing President Richard Manners is gearing up for the cold.

“This time of year we're involved with a lot of preparation, doing a lot of maintenance on all the big equipment and securing our salt supplies because there has been a prediction that they'll be a large salt shortage again this year,” he said.

I think the reason we're seeing sources and word that it will be brutal winter is because they are going by current pattern. One that really hasn't changed since winter. Unless they are really digging in and looking at analogs and comparisons with other factors. Can't wait to dig in myself. Its still August so I'm not rushing.

Take this week for instance. A fall/winter type pattern in August.. What's happening this week would result in snowstorm for Ohio Valley and blizzard for NYC northward with Thunder snow in New England somewhere with freezing temps down to gulf states in winter...

I think everyone is getting to "stuck" (pun intended) on this pattern they're seeing.

It can change quick...I've seen it happen. I personally hope not!!!

"Our winter idea more like 09-10 than 13-14, but I guess its a matter of pick your poison as to which was worse for US "

I don't like 09-10 even though I got average snowfall.. It just wasn't cold enough, long enough! New England is like the thumb of Florida. Sometimes it's not as cold as it should be because it sticks out too much.

You're right. 13-14 is a better setup. But 09-10 was good for us, since it was our snowiest winter. Still, those big storms can be hit or miss. 13-14 definitely had more individual snow events.

Yup.. 2009-10 had some memorable storms including the one where I realized I was getting ZERO INCHES while NY had flurries and Baltimore had 3 feet of snow named Snowmageddon! Then 4 days later I got a foot of snow. LOL

That winter was more a mid Atlantic winter. Many storms went south of me. February 2010 was nuts cause major blocking happened near Greenland and caused a lot of storms to hit us and blow up.

Mid Atlantic Snowmageddon Blizzard
