First ice day in D.C./Baltimore region today, with snow totals of 2.4"/6.1 cm at D.C./National, 4.2"/10.7 cm at Dulles (besting the old record of 3.9"/9.9 cm from 1989), and 2.3"/5.8 cm at BWI. Of interest is the development of a heavier band of snow in NOVA, as described here.
So Dulles now stands at 5.8"/14.7 cm for the season (slightly above normal to-date), more than Pittsburgh's pathetic 5.5"/14.0 cm, which includes 1.8"/4.6 cm for today's clipper. Last winter, the passage of a dramatic cold front, while producing less snow for the date, pushed the 2013/14 total to 30"/76.2 cm!
Hard freeze watches stretch from east Texas to northeast Florida/coastal Georgia.
Yup, was just about to post the map.
Current Alert Map. Lots of folks feeling the chill. 32 of the lower 48 states have a Wind Chill Alert in them. Hard Freeze in Florida. Sorted by states on the right.
Should be fun to see the OBS's next couple days.
Bridgeports max today was 1 degree lower than the normal low. They were +16 degrees above normal Sunday, -15 below normal today with the max temp

Thursday they will have bare ground, but 850 at -23C.
