In Indianapolis it was the coolest July on record, breaking the previous record cool Record set back in 1947 by a whopping 0.5 degrees Fahrenheit, with a July average monthly temperature of 70.1 degrees and this has been a weird summer here, since june was warmer than july
Those words to me mean one thing.. atmosphere had some kind of power forcing the push south from Canada to make July cooler than June. Just impressive.
Here's the Average Temp June & July so everyone can compare.
You can look at the yellows on the left (70-75) then look for the blues on right (65-70)
Back up to around 80F forecast for the next few days.. hopefully we get a bit better than that though
We hit 80F/27C today which is below normal and we will stay below normal for the next 3 days... A bit of a warm up by the weekend, but likely wont last. Check out the fantasy range.... 288 hours another big cold shot for Midwest. Supposedly Pacific teleconnections are typhoon related
Do you think this August will be above average for London? This is what weatheronline has outlook for next two weeks

80 at ORD or MDW? Same as here, we hit 82 at YWG and 84 downtown.
Fortunately, Tropical Storm Lee came in early September bringing much needed rain and some cooler temperatures.
Wow, brutal. August 2011 was a totally different story for us. Cooler than average and very, very wet. (14.7 inches of rain) (And July 2011 was rather quite hotter than average.) We've just had much better luck with avoiding heat in August than July.

I doubt it, although every month this year has been above average except for May which was average.. in contrast to Chicago
By this weekend it looks like our temperatures will drop to crappy 21C/70F weather with mostly clouds.. more like early September weather than early August.. we are really running out of time for some real heat.. the latest date we recorded 35C was September 2nd and that was over 100 years ago and is probably a record we will never beat.. 30C still happens occasionaly every few years in September but I wouldn't count on it and would rather have it in summer.
I have just under 3 weeks for some decent weather to make a show here before I go off to Nice on holiday for 2 weeks.. I sure hope that their weather fixes itself back to normal by then as I was hoping for some guaranteed sun and warmth!
All-time heat records were broken in parts of Lapland yesterday. For example in Sodankylä (67.25N) 30C has never been broken in August until yesterday. It recorded 30.5C, when the old August record was 28.7C.
Inari (68.54N) recorded 31.2C/88F, the 3rd highest temp in the country.
Many other locations in Lapland also broke their August heat records.

I doubt that 35C ever happened. Its too long ago to really even be considered IMO. I'd be interested to know what the record for the last 50 years is.
