Shot from Hwy 280 earlier today in Birmingham. Drivers went about 3 miles in 4 hours, some just left their cars.

People STILL have not made it home from work, and it's likely they won't be tonight now that everything has turned into a solid sheet of ice.

Update: Emergency shelters have been opened along some major arteries for those who have gotten stranded.

Thanks for the updates.

Here's the radar loop, I made an incorrect statement. Precip wasn't "ending" along the coast, it was lightening. I see more moisture moving in now.

I hope this radar loop is viewable.

Google Local Storm reports. Sucks that only 500 can be loaded at a time so I pieced together 3 different time frames. Pretty much Midnight January 28 to 6am January 29.

Judging by this, the westward trend of the precip rain/snow line helped NJ/CT/MA get snow but kept snow little north more off the Gulf coast. I do see a lot of sleet/ice reports down there though

And keep in mind, not everyone reports what is falling or what has fallen.

8-9 inch snow reports coming in from Atlantic County, NJ. Lots of 6+. Like I said... that west shift helped points north get the snow. Interesting

Delaware area
