Just imagine.. It's nighttime... you're in parts of Alabama, Georgia & South Carolina this evening, you step on the porch and its cold and snow is flying.
Ok this ice storm really sucks. I went to go workout today at the gym (Austin TX) and although I got to the gym fine as the roads were cleared, when I was walking to the gym there was a patch of black ice and I lost footing. Now I have a bandaged wrist for the next week...
Fortunately it will be 75 with a low of 60 by this weekend here in Austin.
Cousin who works for DOT around here said they don't have salt or plows down south. Does anyone have info on what the plan is? Are they bringing in equipment from points north?

Unfortunately, I don't have to imagine it Great pictures from Atlanta by the way, especially when you're not here. The news is going crazy with nonstop coverage. I'm just beyond grateful that I took the train to work this morning and didn't deal with all that highway mess. People STILL have not made it home from work, and it's likely they won't be tonight now that everything has turned into a solid sheet of ice.
Update: Emergency shelters have been opened along some major arteries for those who have gotten stranded.
Wow! This is nuts. Temps in teens and 20s is not going to melt it while they wait either.
"I left to go to work 90 minutes early. 7 hours later I am still in my car going nowhere fast." Atlanta
