Students who didn't get out of school on time are stuck there now. News is reporting roads are impassible in many places, and students will be sleeping at many schools, especially in the northern metro area where they didn't expect snow. Snow is winding down, and should end in the next hour for good in Atlanta. Slushy roads are quickly turning into sheets of ice, and many accidents are being reported.

I feel bad for those kids! I couldn't imagine being forced to sleep at school, but parents cannot get there to pick them up, and busses can't get out. We currently have 1 inch of snow in the city, 1-2 inches throughout the area. Most businesses have closed for good, and will be closed through tomorrow.

Not yet, though the temp did just drop from 44 F to about 39-40 F in 20 minutes and it started raining.

Governor declares a State of Emergency in Georgia for all counties:

Deal declares

People abandoning their cars on the side of the road, opting to walk home if they got close enough. 1.5 inches have accumulated in Atlanta, and all the slush has turned into ice.

We can only assume so much by looking at a radar screen. Reality and true scenes are not known until we actually live through it or see it.

Here's Alabama. People stranded and walking to shelters on highway 280.

Man more scenes like this all over the southern states.
