Honestly.. why do I feel like a stalled out wave "down south" where there's warm air with enhanced moisture meeting up with cold arctic air, is going to be trouble for down south???

Think about it... Warm moist air feeding moisture into cold arctic air. This is going to get interesting. I hope they are preparing.

Latest GFS18z goes hog wild. Most likely an outlier so be careful looking at the snow total maps but Wow.

Wilmington, NC (ILM) 2.14" qpf looks like Rain & Ice.
Raliegh, NC (RDU) temps below freezing all levels and 1.12" qpf. Sick.

Seriously doubt this outcome will happen. Have to check the ensembles to see if they agree.

Here's Atlanta's Data. 0.56" qpf all snow. So at 10:1 Ratios that means 5-6". Factor melting probably better to say 3-5" on that particular update.

I don't know... a part of me is starting to agree with Tom77falcons; from the looks of this forecast, the winter weather in Eastern North America is looking too wild.

From same model (most likely not to be believed) Its showing a crippling Ice storm for New Orleans! Ouch. 1.56" which most of it is Ice. I think we should all hope this update was just way off!

Here's the Sounding for New Orleans 7pm Tuesday.

Not here. A whopping trace of snow all winter

Just wild how far south this snow and ice is going. I have a feeling somewhere in the South will get a foot. Florida could break the state snow record of 4 inches if it weren't for ice for part of the event ruining it.

Any chance of the storm tracking further inland and Chapel Hill getting some serious snow? I've been here all winter and we haven't had more than a dusting.

More realistic. GFS00z 24hr snow totals. 6-8" for Raleigh, NC
4-6" to Florida panhandle. Some of this could be ice.
