Love Hate Love Hate! Hate part coming up. I wish I was in MA or VT this time of year. We'll see if the storm track can benefit me since I got ripped off last time. lol
Anyone in PA, NY, MA, VT, NH, & Maine heads up.. if 1" liquid comes out of this storm you'll see some significant snows.
THE MID WEEK SYSTEM WILL NEED TO BE CLOSELY MONITORED OVER THE NEXT SEVERAL DAYS. THE ENERGY ASSOCIATED WITH THIS STORM IS CURRENTLY OVER THE EASTERN PACIFIC AND WILL MOVE ONSHORE DURING THE DAY MON.
My forecast can't decide on rain or snow for next wed. Could be a mix?
Yup, you do realize why right? Models are flip flopping with the track. North track you get rain. South track you get snow. Middle track you get mix. Until what I circled comes on shore models wont know the timing, strength, speed and track of it. Keep us posted on how your forecast changes. My gut says you will be all snow maybe mix for an hour or two at the beginning
I finally got a chance to dig out some young potted trees that were buried in 4 feet of snow. Some damage done but nothing severe.
Boston's all time record high in March is 89, set March 31, 1998. Ironically, 1 yr before was the start of April Fool's blizzard.. March extreme max for NYC is 86 on same date. Philly 87. Bridgeport 84.
Is there a correlation with Lake Michigan high ice cover and a cooler lakeshore in the spring and early summer?
No correlation to onshore winds
No correlation to 4PM peak temps at lakeside
No signal in April and May as water temps don't vary much
June tended to have somewhat cooler water temps in years with high winter ice

This Winter has been brutal for most Midwesterners. However, it has yielded some stunning images of snow and ice. Some of the best photos are from photographer Ken Scott of northern Michigan. These ice cave snapshots were taken on Lake Michigan near Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore.
