Ariete's winter was hell on Earth - consistently around 0-3C with snow piles and very little sun. Good grief. Poor soul. I'd take a frigid but sunny New England winter any day.

Speaking of sun... Full sun in the sky lunchtime and nothing melting March 6th. Weird.

Not that often we still have this around here. I haven't seen the lawns for over 4 weeks now.

And parking lots still obstructed.

May this madness finally be ending?

Please, please some warm 20c weather. I am so sick of 5c and rain. I don't want snow anymore.

Here is an awesome time lapse of the Great Lakes freezing over

Watch the Great Lakes Freeze Over - TIME

Some reasons from a Climatologist out of Ann Arbor, MI as to why Ontario doesn't freeze over like the other lakes are listed in this article. The main one I could see was:

Although it’s the smallest of the Great Lakes, with a surface area of about 19,000 square kilometres, it is the second deepest, with an average depth of 85 metres.

“Depth is a big issue because the deeper the water, the more heat it can receive and store,” said Wang. “Even though Superior is deeper than Ontario the water temperature there is much lower.”

Lake Superior has an average depth of 148 metres, which enables it to also absorb heat. But being the most northwest of the Great Lakes means that even its deep waters are no match for the freezing effects of cold Arctic fronts, says Wang.

I didn't even know it was as cold as it was (28F) until I checked, the sunshine is really making a difference, it feels 40F-ish.

Storm still showing up around the 13th! Storm should be happening. Million Dollar Question is where, what and who.

Here's what the latest EURO12z says. Bombs away. 984mb low over NJ bringing rains for the coast and heavy snow interior.

Snow results on right. Widespread 9-18" even into NWCT. Back side snows drop some for NJ, NYC, upwards.
