February 4th-5th timeframe. Watch for big storm in NorthEast.

Basically it's going to come down to the track as usual and if or when the Ohio Valley Low phases with the coastal low.

Shown here I put together the latest GFS at top, EURO at bottom. Look at the storm track of the GFS compared to the EURO.

GFS more towards Great Lakes so it would be a Rain to snowstorm for this area.

Euro merges with a coastal low (TIMING and LOCATION IS CRUCIAL if you want snow) and drops a ton of snow down in the area.

Fun fun.

This has got to be the windiest this season yet. I feel you, Moose. I've swept the back steps four times and it just blows in deeper. Nothing that was shoveled is clear, it's like it just snowed and no tracks.

I've had customers in Juneau tell me it rarely gets below 40F, Camby.

Dad was supposed to leave Danbury today for PA. In a 2WD Highlander it should feel like the America's Cup regatta LOL.

One last look at the difference between the overnight EURO and the latest EURO for Feb 4-5th Storm

Huge Difference in results. We're gonna need some Winter Weather Flights out there soon.

Last night, no phasing, just 1 storm going to Great Lakes. Big time Warmth and rain for East.

Latest merges and shifts to the coast crashing the temps and producing a big snowstorm in the NorthEast.

Bottom line.... Storm is being shown. THATS ALL we need to look for right now.

You aren't as mild as Alaska. Somewhere in that state it's nearly 62F/17C today

Your mild weather will be erased in about a few hours as the winds begin to change direction. The NWS says it's going down to about 15F in NYC tonight

We are just a little chillier here in Chicagoland. Headed down to as low as -22F/-30C in parts of the metro area by the morning.

Just how it rolls sometimes. Front sits too far south the south get the snow. Storm tracks to the north than Tennessee, Kentucky and Arkansas miss out..

Latest Euro total snowfall to end of run.

Should be interesting to see the final total for Eastern North Carolina.

The blocking high pressure over Northern Scandinavia/Finland/Western Russia has persisted unusually long - many weeks.
A result of this is easterlies in Norway with very little or no precipitation northwest of the Scandinavian Mountains.
Now, in January, we have no snow in the lowlands, but we have several smallish bush fires and grass fires in Central Norway (Trondheim region) and also furthern north, even inside the Arctic Circle. Very unusual in mid-winter.

27 F and overcast with calm skies here. My favorite type of winter weather. Just the right amount of chill for January.

This is one long winter for sure. It hasn't stopped snowing since last evening when I saw it begin again around 5pm. Haven't seen many plows go by today. I think they gave up until this blows over since they aren't getting ahead at all. One good thing is the temp has risen to 0.5 F. I'll take that half a degree.
