We've only had 13.3mm of rain in the past month so the ground is fairly hard and patches of grass yellower than at any point this year.
That's really low relative humidity even for us. We've gotten those conditions in spring but summer dewpoints rarely go too far below 10°C. What was your morning temperature?

Our grass is green and we're in "abnormally dry". 27°C here, 19°C dew point. And raining.

It was 9.8C this morning. Our highs have been very summerlike recently but nights are noticeably getting chillier (and longer), so it doesn't feel like proper summer because it isn't hot for anywhere near as long during the day as it would have been a few weeks ago. The unofficial site I use as well which gives more data gave a RH of 24% earlier, the lowest it has had since it began in 2009 (the graph below is for the official site):

For contrast, our morning low was 21°C. Humid air makes for very heavy rain. Sky opened up. September to date has averaged 81°F/63°F. Dark clouds just before the rain clouds rolled in:

I was watching the tennis earlier and they showed the court getting absolutely hammered from the rain earlier on - that was more intense than anything I can remember seeing in this country, ever. Fwiw, the unofficial Hampstead site has a record rain rate of 204mm/h, recorded about a month ago.

It depends on the climate. A scene like that would be a lot more common in Manitoba than New Jersey.
Oh really? We usually get those storms practically every april.

For the BI we actually get low humidity more than you'd think. This may it was down to 18% for me which is pretty low for here. It was 51 today so not low.

Do you have autumn leaves in April? I don't think so. Besides, I was talking about the American East Coast, not the British Isles.
