It will get milder here for a while but now the models want to turn it colder again.

Likely to be outliers of course, but GFS is showing snow in FI.

Plus a raging northerly

I know, Exactly I was just about to say that. Everytime a mild blip appears by the time we get to that date the temperature is just as cold as it was when the mild blip was forecasted.

The only place it is really going to affect is the SE anyway.

NYC? Land of the Urban Heat Island?

Earliest sub 40F temperature in 11 years in NYC:October 13, 2012
Between 2002 and 2011, Central Park had not once fallen below 40 degrees on or prior to October 13th in a season. The last time such a feat did happen was back on October 8th, 2001, when the temperature fell to 39 degrees.

You have to go back one more year, to 2000, when the mercury fell to 38 degrees so early in a season. It was on October 9th, 2000, when the temperature fell to 38 degrees in Central Park

Wow, the UHI of New York must be far stronger than London, considering central London fell into the 30's recently.

LOL.........

Anyway, yes I seen those charts. Depends on where the air is coming from, Norway would give snow. Iceland maybe. Uppers look to be around -7 which would give a high of around 3c. Would be fantastic. I would love to experience an ice day in October just once. You would need -10c uppers though and constant showers. That would be hard to get.

-5C uppers would suffice given the showers are heavy enough.

It looks to have a continential influence.

What temps would we have if that came to friction (-7c uppers).

I bet you wouldn't like it if NI had a similar forecast. Though I doubt it would even be possible.

The average low so far this month is 10.7°C/51.3°F with 3 lows under 5°C/41°F, not looking good for the colours.

When the weather anywhere in the lower 48 starts to look more like Yakutsk than any American city, pay attention.
So Yakutsk's already averaging what we would get on the chilliest day of a significant "cold snap". Gotta love this climate. All the best for Montana!
Btw I found out today that there was Yakutian girl in my school, apparently she prefers our winters.
