Another thing that caught my attention is that they would throw away the building of a fire station which would be for the greater good of the community than have a Wal-Mart which may have lower salaries but still will provide an income for residents in the area. They also don't mention the fact that Peterson is going to build a office building next to it which could bring companies which pay higher wages. It fascinates me that their are so many residents in Southern PG that complain about development on one hand and then complain about taxes and lack of amenities on the other.

Parents protest proposed Wal-Mart near two Prince George’s schools -- Gazette.Net
Safety from Wal-Mart traffic has got to tbe the biggest load of bull ever. lol I can name tons of schools in the DC area near roads much busier than the traffic Wal-Mart would cause. And you can mitigate accidents with Hawk Signals, designated crosswalks with signage, and traffic calming devices. Please, they need to stop the madness. On the other hand, I'm anti-Wal-Mart. I wouldn't be too disappointed if they didn't build one there.

I'm not a fan but not against them either. Not even sure that I will shop there when its built but it would be good to have an option. On another note drove by Tanger and the grass is down lol. They still appear to have a lot more to do but it looks like they are extending construction days on the interiors to meet their deadline. Its also pretty amazing how widening the road creates a totally different feel

looks like their only focus is the road immediately outside the mall. They need to get moving to finish it out to Kerby Hill like they are supposed to.

I hope those individuals complaining about low paying jobs, aren't supporting the outlet mall. It's a pretty stupid argument. I also think it's silly to complain about a Walmart when there are two hotels and a liquor store within walking distance. As a parent I would be more concerned about the hotels (even before the shooting) than any store. A hotel is a much more dangerous place especially with a high school right there.

For the record, I don't have an issue with Walmart being there. I think moving the school should be the bigger goal.

That is the only part that they are responsible for updating. All road construction past the outlet is the responsibility of the the state per their agreement with the state.

One would hope but based off the flimsiness of their argument I would be surprised if they were in support of one but not the other. It's interesting to me that they would expend their interest in being so vocal about a Wal-Mart and not about lobbying for a school improvements . As for your other points I completely agree.

Stop thinking of school and school. Nyc is the famous and big city you cannot find a good public school in it but it is attractive for genius around the world.

But this is a suburban area. People aren't going to move to a suburban area, where families typically live, and have bad schools (might as well move closer to work, right?). A city like New York has a much more diverse population. You are more likely to encounter people without kids in a city than in a suburb. Very rarely do single people buy townhomes and houses far away from the job center (most of the time, the city). So yes, schools matter in that particular area.
