I might be relocating for a job in National Harbor. I am curious to know about what areas are good to live in around National Harbor? What is rent like? I am 25. Also, what areas have good night life besides DC. Any other info would be great.

It really depends on your requirements (costs, # of bedrooms, amenities) as for night life that too depends on your interest. The more specific you are the better the recommendations that could be made. I would check out Apartments for Rent & Homes for Rent - Rent.com® Apartment Finder as a starting point.

I don't really have a specigic neighborhood in mind. I just would like to see an overview of some of the closer neighborhoods. I don't want a long commute to work. As far as price, I am not sure. I want an above average apartment in a safe area. 1-2 bedrooms. Would like to be close to a gym, resteraunts and bars/clubs etc.

I would suggest looking in Old Town Alexandria its a reverse commute so it wouldn't be as bad.

Based on his list this is true, but if he wants something cheaper, he's going to have to give up some of those wants.

Thanks for the responses. I could give up being in walking distance to bars and restaurants because of the metro system in the DC area. Could I get a 1 bedroom in the 1100-1200 range in a good area? Also, if I had a 2 bedroom what would that cost? It can be higher because I would have a roomate to spilt costs.

I would try Alexandria like UrbanScholar said. Most of Alexandria (Fairfax County and the city) are safe with a few exceptions. They also have a bit more amenities over there that would still match what you are looking for and it is very close to National Harbor. Depending on what part you live in, you can get to the National Harbor within 5 minutes. I don't know a whole lot about the apartments over there, but there's a place called Riverside over there that's pretty good. I have a few co-workers who stay/stayed over there and it was good for them. It is literally right off the exit after the Wilson Bridge so it would be about 5 minutes to drive to National Harbor, is gated, has a club house, fitness center and has pool there. You would have to probably have a roommate though because the 2 bedrooms are going for $1523+.
