Its also a good thing because the outlet should almost be finished. By that time most of the exterior work should be done making a better presentation for the site visit. NH is already the best choice but visually completed nearby projects and roadwork will bode better. I would be interested in seeing how fast after the license is awarded will the awardee break ground with this expedited approval process by the planning board.

Video Lottery Facility Location Commission to Conduct Site Visit and Public Hearing on
Prince George’s County Casino Proposals in October

(Baltimore) - Maryland’s Video Lottery Facility Location Commission (VLFLC) will conduct site visits and hold public comment sessions for Prince George’s slots facility operation license proposals, the Commission announced today. Each applicant will present on one of three days – October 21, 23, or 25.
In response to a February 2013 Request for Proposals (RFP), three applicants submitted proposals to operate the sixth, and final, casino due to open in Maryland. Applicants are required to make individual oral presentations before a license is awarded. “The purpose of each of the site visits and public hearings is for the Commissioners to view the proposed location, observe the surrounding community, get a sense of the size and scope of the proposed facilities, to hear directly from the applicants, and to listen to the public support and public concerns about the proposed project” said Commission Chairman Donald C. Fry.
Penn National Gaming (Rosecroft) will present on Monday, October 21, Greenwood Racing (Parx) on Wednesday, October 23 and MGM on Friday, October 25. On each of the three days, the Commission’s schedule will be as follows:

• 2:00 p.m. : Tour of the proposed facility location
• 3:30 p.m.: Applicant presentation to Commission
• 6:00 p.m.: Public hearing (including brief public presentation by applicant)

The applicant presentation and public hearing will be held at Friendly High School, located at 10000 Allentown Road in Fort Washington, MD. Individuals interested in speaking to the Commission are encouraged to sign up to testify before the hearing by completing THIS form. Witness sign-up sheets will also be available at the hearing location by 4:30 p.m. the day of the hearing. Additional guidelines for public testimony may be found at the Commission’s website HERE.
In November 2008, the Video Lottery Facility Location Commission was established by the Maryland General Assembly with the mission of conducting a competitive bidding process to award up to six licenses to operate a video lottery facility in Maryland. The Video Lottery Location Commission has awarded licenses in five locations in the State of Maryland; four of those gaming facilities are in operation. The fifth facility, located in Baltimore City, is under construction and slated to open in 2014.

That's an interesting point. I remember going to a community meeting last year and the police saying that they were going to use that station to watch over that outlet mall and that they were going to have a helicopter at that station. Is there a status update on it? Is it going to be open before the mall is?

Definitely won't open before the mall. Its supposed to open in early spring of next year but from what I can see when I pass by the foundation isn't even down.We will see but I can't imagine it opening before next summer at the earliest.

Another article on the Tanger Job Fair last week. It definitely paints a picture of the challenges others are still facing in terms of unemployment and underemployment. The one positive thing is that with that many applicants, the calibur of employees hired and the quality of service provided should be significantly better than what I have seen at other retailers in the county.

Quote:
The unemployment rate in Prince George’s County — 7.1 percent as of July — has
long outpaced that of the broader Washington metropolitan area, 5.8 percent in
July, according to figures from the Labor Department.
