Looks like they are still working on the 13 week benefit extension.

"The EDD will also keep you posted on the CARES Act provision establishing a new 13-week extension of benefits paid for by the federal government when someone exhausts their regular state UI claim between March 29, 2020 and the end of 2020. This too also requires an extensive effort to implement these new extended benefits."

Okay so for claims ending April 4, so looks like we're included.

My actual benefits were exhausted in Oct 2019, but sounds like it's only the claim end date that counts.

Am I interpreting that right?

literally my final less than $100 payment was 3/22. The way they word is it basically anyone who exhausted before is left out, even when there is no work.. Also the "people who are eligible for at least $1 of benefits qualifies".. are you kidding me

Hoping it just means the 13 week is not retroactive.
Im right there with you.. Missed their posted date by a whole 7 days.

That can't be right. There has to be some type of plan for people before March 29. Maybe it will kick back to the state to provide some type of extension.

Do you mean your claim date ended on 3/22 or that's when you exhausted the money?

its like they worded it that way just to make us as anxious as possible.. eligible for benefits meaning an OPEN CLAIM?
Or still receiving money weekly

sorry for the several posts but this is INSANE to me honestly im not even mad as just appalled at this negligence like we aren't just as impacted.

New York very clearly stated that anyone who exhausted anytime after JULY OF 2019 is eligible for extension
but the deadline for CA is only those exhausted after 3/29/2020??? the same month that everyone lost their jobs?
insane.

I don't think CA worded it correctly. That's too much of a difference between NY and CA to be accurate. Each state is supposed to follow the same guidelines from what I have read. The "shelter in place" happened BEFORE March 29. So it would not make any sense at all to make that the cut off date.

Maybe they will do another update soon and correct their verbiage.

I had exhausted benefits with benefit year ending 4/04/20. Where does that put me? There was no option for me to re-open/continue to certify and now simply states my benefit year is expired and to “file new claim.” If states are supposed to be similar, as per NY’s directions my expired claim should get 13 week extension, right? (Any claim after July 2019)
