You can't go wrong with either one. Houston just has more, but Dallas has pretty good healthcare.

Houston, TMC is expanding like crazy and people from around the world get treated there. Plus theres UTMB in Galveston and theres a Medical Center poping up in Katy.

Dallas medical care and medical center would be better compared to San Antonios.

I believe UT Southwestern in Dallas is on the verge of exploding with projects itself.

UTMB has essentially shut down since Ike. There's some activity going now but it's nowhere near the level it's been in the past. Shriners is also very likely to close their Children's Hospital in Galveston permanently.

The essential answer is that Houston has a slight edge, but nothing extraordinary. There is not much medical care that you can get in once city you can't get in the other. Houston tends to concentrate its medical offerings at TMC for the most part, whereas Dallas' medical needs are scattered throughout the city and the Metroplex. TMC blows any complex Dallas has out of the water, but the overall quality and quantity of medical care in either city isn't particularly superior to the other.

Houston has a pretty good edge when it comes to experimental therapy/clinical trials for your non run-of-the-mill cancers. There is also an awesome amount of research being done here across the board.

And the TMC is eating everything around it!

UTMB is back up and running, and its not far from the level it has been before Ike. There even re-hiring. They have plans to expand in Galveston, such as building a new surgical tower. Shriners does'nt have the money yet to repair the Hospital in Galveston and they will not close it down permanetly.

Semb said the 30-bed hospital in Galveston would not be closed permanently, but that operations would be suspended and some of the 300 employees laid off until financial conditions improved.

They are trying to close it down permanently because of the economic downturn. They lack the money to repair the hospital and the national money to operate as many hospitals as they have, so why not kill two birds with one stone?
