Very interesting foto of JFK in SA the day be fore Dallas. Note that Pres. Kennedy and Gov. Connolly are both sitting in the Lincoln's rearmost seats while their wives sat together in the middle area. I tweaked the image a little to get rid of the aging common to old prints like this. Can anyone tell us exactly where the snapshot was taken since it must have been somewhere along Loop 13 between Kelly and Brooks Fields? Many thanx for sharing it.

Hey Bud...the previous page, she said on Broadway near Sunset?

Sunset is in the Alamo Heights area (just north of AH city limits)...not sure if that's what she meant. But that building looks familiar....but then that slanted roof line was fairly common about that time period.

Hopefully she will come back and possibly provide some details.

Thank you for taking us to the last day of Camelot. All of San Antonio felt the happiness your Mother did that day.

It looks like the Angel thing is an urban myth.
The statue is called The Victory of Samothrace.

The most visible sculpture from Hildebrand is the 8’ high cement reproduction of the Victory of Samothrace, or ]Winged Victory (which originally decorated the roof of Dr. Urrutia’s house on Broadway), surrounded on two sides by 4’x 30” cement lions (site 3l)

OK...this is what I thought of when I saw that photo. This is (I think) Overstreet Photography at the corner of Broadway and Flamingo (a couple of blocks North of Sunset.)

I hope this link comes through. Sometimes it doesn't translate to all browsers.

Web browser and Live Maps are incompatible

You can see the slanted roof...and the general architecture of that building.

Does anyone know the route of JFK's motorcade that day. Did he land at the airport? It would make sense that they were going down Broadway to downtown. If this is the correct building, then they were traveling South on Broadway.

Any thoughts?

TacoNBeer.....I didn't want this post to get lost in the middle of the JFK pics. This report on Urrutia's mansion and history is fabulous!!! I'm so envious of all that got to participate on the research! Incredible information on a very misunderstood and mysterious personality in San Antonio's history.
All the aerials are fantastic!

Do you know if copies of this are available to purchase anywhere? Super resources and photos!
