Hehe...squeezing $11/quarter for security out of some of these people is akin to squeezing blood out of a turnip....ain't gonna happen.

They can afford all of the other misc. stuff, but they can not
afford security without raising assesments!
If the $38-40K is the total cost, then maybe my math is wrong but:

$44 per house x 3,200 houses = $140,800

What is the extra $100K going to?

I know the board said $11 a quarter per household, but $11 per year times 3400 homes is $37400 But they will raise the assesments for every thing else. No the board said $38k to $40k per year

Which is it 3400 homes as you say..or 3200 homes as Steel Man says? That is awfully cheap 38-40K per year. How many Beatle Bailey's can they hire for that?
Did anyone do the math and ask why the extra money?

FYI – I think originally the COPS program required more of a time commitment. Now it is what you make of it. After you take the certification class you can be the eyes and ears of the neighborhood or patrol. Whatever you like. If you have at least 10 people signed up the police will come to your neighborhood or clubhouse and hold a certification class. Our neighborhood is organizing a COPS group now.
Also – For years we paid a rent a cop to patrol our neighborhood. (400 homes is tiny compared to yours) They seemed to be afraid of their own shadows and were totally ineffective. We paid them $20 an hour for 8 hours of patrol a day. A few months ago we switched to Constables who look mighty official in their Constable cars and uniforms. The change has been terrific. We now pay $40 per hour but they only patrol 4 hours a day (varied schedule) so our yearly expense is the same. A staggering $45,000 per year IMO. It’s a lot but the residents are happy.

Here is a post that supports the 40k a year

When asked the BOD president answered $37-$40 per year!
For the highest bid on security. He stated $11 per quarter
per household! Obivously he did not know what he was talking
about again!

No, Mr president shut down after asked if it would be
voted on by HO's. Maybe in April 2010.

Were you at the same meeting we went to?
If you were, then 3 of us misunderstood what
was said.
