haha..do you remember Justin Wilson's potato salad recipe without the potatoes? I remember watching him make this, and using his hands to smush all the ingredients together with his hands.

Well I admit I am an 'odd bird' but saltines in place of potatoes just doesn't sit right with me but as they say to each their own. Now excuse me while I put some saltines in my Quaker Oats Old Fashioned Oatmeal, that's really all I use them for. I know, ewww!

sounds like a plan good at ya for the suggestion.

I never look down on any type of combo of ingredients...

I will try nothing once.

biggest food snobs are the ones that pronounce; Oh, I don't eat this..or that.,

I always say; Tell me what you like, not what you DON'T like.

Those saltines are a "thing" down here, in Dixie. Around the 4th of July people start making "Fire Crackers" using saltines.

I like to place two saltines on my tongue, salt-side down, and take a swig of whole milk. The crunch of the crackers combined with the salt on my tongue contrasts with the sweet, fatty milk and creates a taste/texture sensation that I really like. I know, it's a bit odd.

Of course, one of the main side dishes down here in the summer is that wonderful Southern potato salad.

This 'Grasshopper' is ardently learning from the Master (cue tinkling Kung Fu music in background)

I will certainly try the crackers and milk..sounds like taste titillating adventure in eating.

Nice to know you GD

oh, PS..what is not like to like about the Firecracker recipe?

winnah!

I make a very simple hard boiled eggs & red potato salad with Durkees mustard & mayo & bit sea salt then topped with chopped green onions. Then refrigerated for several hours before serving.

The secret to great potato salad IMO is to season the cooked potatoes with rice or white wine vinegar while they are still warm — before you add the rest of your salad and dressing ingredients.

you know, Debsi..my Dad would put a teaspoon of Oil and vinegar on the hot potatoes and add the S&P and other dry seasonings..he said the other ingredients 'stuck' better and mixed better after that.

I Mix sour cream and mayo together 1/2 cup each but since it's 3 pounds you may need more. 2 Tsps. salt and 1 Tbsp. onion powder or a bit more. That's how my mm makes it.
