Had to let you guys know I was finally able to get boat out of winter hibernation over the past weekend. I know, if I was in Florida, I probably would never even winterize it! The sad part is the forecast is for highs in the mid 40's over the weekend and then going back into the mid 50's next week.

Any luck I will get out on Thursday with a friend to go Crappie fishing up on Hardy Dam which is a big impoundment north of Grand Rapids, MI.

Oh well, one thing is for sure the car and the boat have seen their last winter in the cold white north of Michigan! Can't wait til June to get down to look for a place to live!

Hardy Dam, love it! I used to boat around there occasionally. "Hot Boat" weekend was always fun!

HH, I get a chance I'll take a couple of pics of the backwater for you when I go up to fish it next time. I've been on the " Hot Boat" weekend, we usually would camp at River Ridge which is at the SR-20 bridge near Hwy 131. Ever been there? One of the nicest campgrounds/RV parks we ever stayed at!

Hey BH, I know these little critters we call fish aren't quite groupers but hey, it's all we've got to work with up here! And, they make a great shore lunch with a little egg wash, and beer batter! Throw in some cole slaw and fries and you got a fish fry!

But, you have to catch a ratio of 17 to 1.

Just kidding!

MA,

I and some of my friends are going out on Friday. I have a full boat, but if you can play hooky, maybe we can meet up out there.

You know what, if you get the right Grouper the odds might be worse than that!

I love fresh fried Bass, Crappie, and big Sunfish. My wife doesn't though! I stink up the house!

Ok, so that brings up a question BH, where if anyplace around there would you go for that specific sort of fare? Up here we can get a lake perch fry on Friday night locally at several places nearby. Is there anywhere down there that might import from up north or is it all going to be ocean fish. Is the Friday Night Fish Fry something that is popular down in your area?

All over WNY they do fish frys every Friday night. Down here they don't. They have a lot of seafood restaurant, but people down here don't know about the Friday Night Fish Fry ritual / religion that goes on up north. You will have to do your own, and I do. I bought a small deep fryer, but I have to use it out on the Lanai, and keep the doors closed when I use it. I am lucky I can even bring it in the house to clean it up. And, I also usually wait for my wife to go for a day or so, so I can have a fish fry.
