Jeez, people. Here is just one of the pros to living in Oregon:

Cedar Plank Salmon Recipe

Planked salmon is a method of cooking and smoking salmon that has been used for many years.
Make sure to use natural red cedar (no preservatives).
The salmon is slow cooked, which produces a rich, smoky flavor.

24" x 8" x 1" untreated cedar plank
6 (4 ounce) fillets Oregon salmon
1/2 cup extra virgin olive oil
onion, sliced lemon

1. Submerge untreated cedar plank in water. Soak 12 hours or overnight.
2. Preheat an outdoor grill for high heat. Place prepared plank on the grill, and sprinkle with coarse salt. Cover grill and heat plank 2-3 minutes until dry. Adjust grill temperature for medium heat.
3. Rub salmon fillets with olive oil. Arrange on plank. Top salmon with onion, lemon slices, and whatever spices you enjoy on salmon.
4. Cook salmon, covered 20-30 minutes, or until opaque and easily flakes with a fork.

Thank you. I was the one who started it because there was someone who everyone pretty much ageed was a troll and posting just for the attention.

It isn't a method meant to discourage people from giving their opinions or honest debate. I don't want anyone to think that.

hey blev555, i'm between moving to either Seattle, Portland, and Austin... How long have you lived in Austin? Just wondering... I know I like a city at first, then get sick of it, so was thinking maybe the newness hasn't worn off. Or do you still like it? Portland appealed to me the most b/c of the nature, seafood, hipsters, more asians...but when i learned about the 10% income tax, i was really turned off. That's a lot...I know there's no sales tax, but I definitely don't spend enough to make up for it.

Just wondering your thoughts on Portland and AUstin since you've lived there. What kinda person do you think would thrive in each? I'm looking for young professionals, a decent dating scene for a girl (after hearing about the homeless population in PDX, I wasn't sure if i'd find a gainfully employed man there), culture, and just overall quality of life. I like to spend time outdoors, running, hiking, etc. Let me know your thoughts. thanks in advance!!

The homeless population in Portland is similar to that of all the big cities on the west coast. Hardly would prevent you from "dating a gainfully employed man."
