6th Annual Fort Pierce Oyster Festival
Saturday, April 1st & 2nd, 2017 Along the waterfront in downtown Fort Pierce / 600 N. Indian River Dr., Ft. Pierce, FL 34950 NEW THIS YEAR - WE'LL BE A 2 DAY EVENT! SATURDAY 10-6- AND SUNDAY 10- 4
The festival celebrates the waterfront and its bounty with delicious oysters, seafood, land lubber food, live music, arts & crafts and the children's area, along with the Great Coconut Float Race which is hosted by the Manatee Observation & Education Center. There is fun for the whole family. In 2015 & 2016, our attendance exceeded 10,000 patrons!
We are dedicated to saving our oyster shells for the "Oyster Reef Restoration Projects" in St. Lucie County. In our first four years this festival collected more than 3800 gallons of oyster shells that have been used on our oyster reefing efforts in the Indian River Lagoon. -- I went last year and the oysters were great!

NOT JUST ANY CAR SHOW
More than 95 automobiles are expected at the Classics at the Beach Car Show from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday on the grounds of the Elliott Museum, 825 N.E. Ocean Blvd., Stuart.
Unique and exclusive models such as a 1967 Maserati and a wood-body Chrysler Town & Country, circa 1948, will be on display. Food Trucks also will be on site. Regular admission rates apply, and the museum will be open, so check out the “Wheels of Change” and “National Geographic 50 Greatest Photographs" exhibits. And just in time for the season openers, the baseball exhibit. Tickets are $14 for adults and $12 for seniors older than 65. Tickets for children 6 to 12 years old are $6 and kids 6 and younger get in free. Free parking and shuttle service will be available from the Dunkin' Donuts in the Smithfield Plaza at the intersection of Monterey Road and Southeast Ocean Boulevard.

MUSIC FOR YOUR EARS
There are two free concerts Sunday, and it’s difficult to say which outdoor venue has a better view.
McCartney Mania will perform hits from the Fab Four and Sir Paul from 1 to 4 p.m. on the Riverwalk Stage in downtown Stuart.
The Nouveaux Honkies perform their style of countrified blues and Americana from 4 to 7 p.m. at Indian RiverSide Park, 1707 N.E. Indian River Drive in Jensen Beach. Don’t forget the lawn chairs.

SADDLE UP!
The Adams Ranch State Qualifying Ranch Rodeo features authentic working cowboys and cowgirls. Competitions include bronco riding, wild cow decorating, cow gathering, trailer loading and ranch sorting. See the skills and hard work that go into managing cattle operations. Barbecue, swamp cabbage and cold beer will be available.
Gates open at noon Saturday at the St. Lucie County Fairgrounds, 15601 W. Midway Road in Fort Pierce, and the first round of competition starts at 1 p.m. Round two starts at 6 p.m. Admission is $10 (cash only). Children 12 and younger get in free with paid adult.

NAUTICAL AND NICE
The Indian River Nautical Flea Market and Seafood Festival is 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at the Indian River County Fairgrounds. Anglers, boaters and divers may enjoy the Indian River Nautical Flea Market and Seafood Festival from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at the Indian River Fairgrounds, 7955 58th Ave. in Vero Beach.
A wide range of new, used and liquidated marine and fishing accessories, hardware, electronics, nautical hardware, clothing, shoes and nautical gifts and marine art work will be on sale. Local bands, local craft beer and seafood specialties add to the fun. Admission is $7 for adults. Children age 12 and younger get in free. Print the coupon on the festival website for $2 off. There still are some seats left for Nestor Torres’ performance Friday at The Lyric Theatre in Stuart. The jazz flutist will bring the sounds of Havana and Buenos Aires to the historic stage. SpaceX will attempt to re-launch a previously flown Falcon rocket booster for the first time, to launch the SES-10 commercial communications satellite to a geosynchronous orbit. The mission will be closely watched to see if SpaceX can fulfill Elon Musk's vision for making rockets reusable.

The 15th annual Grant BBQ Fest is 3-9 p.m. Friday; 10 a.m.-8 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m.- 5 p.m. Sunday at 4580 First Street in Grant. Vote in the People’s Choice Contest or compete in the local backyard division, listen to some local live music, browse through the vendors and enjoy some great barbecue. The South Florida Wingfest opens at noon Saturday and Sunday.Tradition Square in Port St. Lucie

On Saturday, find out who can eat the most wings at 4 p.m. and who can eat the hottest wings at 6 p.m. The last band comes on stage at 8 p.m. Saturday. On Sunday, there is a pet costume contest at 2 p.m. and another wing-eating contest at 4 p.m. with the festival awards at 6 p.m. Admission is $5 and kids five and younger get in for free.
If you would like to be a judge, there are a limited amount of tickets for $25. .Each judge receives admission, 20 wings and sauce samples from each competing restaurant. An exhibit of bonsai trees will be on display starting at 5:30 p.m. Friday at the Courthouse Cultural Center, 80 S.E. Ocean Blvd. in Stuart. Japanese appetizers and sake will be served until 7 p.m. Friday.
The celebration of Japanese culture continues from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday with live bonsai demonstrations throughout the day, a giant origami demonstration, traditional Japanese flute music, poetry readings and a bonsai pot-making workshop. A collection of Japanese sake box sets, sushi plates and other dinner accessories will be on display and available for purchase. Admission is free.

The Sunrise Theatre has Chubby Checker and Mary Wilson on its main stage Friday night. Tickets are $59-$65. The Islamorada Beer Company at 3200 St. Lucie Blvd.in Fort Pierce is substituting brews for eggs and hosting its first beer hunting event from 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday. More than 100 beers will be hidden and each person (of legal drinking age) has 10 minutes to find and keep all the beer they discover. Beer hunts will be every 30 minutes.

Saturday is the annual Jackie Robinson Celebration Game, marking the 70th anniversary of the Hall of Famer's major league debut and celebrating his contribution to sports as the first African American to play in the Major Leagues. Minor leaguers, the Florida Fire Dogs out of Kissimmee, formerly known as the Brevard County Manatees, take on the St. Lucie Mets at this Florida State League game. First pitch is 6:35 p.m. Fireworks will light up the skies over Holman Stadium after the game. Tickets are $8 and proceeds benefit the United Way of Indian River County. Gates open at 4:30 p.m.
