Tickets on sale Friday OCT 21 for Owen charity show

Jake Owen will return Dec. 9 to Vero Beach for his annual Jake Owen Foundation benefit concert.
The country star and his band will perform at the performing arts center of his alma mater, Vero Beach High School, where he filmed the music video to his sixth No. 1 hit, 'American Country Love Song' this winter. Tickets go on sale 10 a.m. Friday.
'I can’t wait to share this special evening of music with friends and family in my hometown of Vero,” Owen said in a news release.
December’s intimate show is Owen’s 10th benefit concert and will be his first public concert in his hometown since December. Proceeds will benefit several youth organizations in Indian River County and St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.

The country star’s Oct. 8 performance at the inaugural Beach Town Music Festival at the Indian River County Fairgrounds was postponed because of Hurricane Matthew. Concert promoters have yet to reschedule.
Owen and his father, Steve Owen, who sits on the board of the Jake Owen Foundation, made the cost-saving decision to move the fund-raising concerts from Holman Stadium to smaller venues last year when the singer performed two shows at the Riverside Theatre. “As much as people enjoy the big stadium shows, it’s expensive,” Owen told Treasure Coast Newspapers in an interview last month. “My dad and I talked and we decided to cut back on the expenses and give more to the charity.”

Last year's two shows at the 692-seat theater raised $175,000.
The benefit shows started in 2006 with tennis star and fellow Vero Beach native Mardy Fish. To date, Mardy’s Tennis & Jake’s Music Fest (2006-11) and the Jake Owen Foundation concerts (2012, 2014 and 2015) have raised $1.25 million. Eighty percent of the funds remained in Indian River County.

“Giving back has always been important to me in everything I do,” Owen said in the news release.
Tickets for the 8 p.m. show at the 1000-seat performing arts center range in prices from$50 to $200. To purchase tickets, call 866-333-7623 or visit Event Planning and Management - C & H Events.
