"Gen. Colin Powell, once one of the architects of the military's "don't ask, don't tell" law, said this morning that he is personally in favor of repealing the policy. "Things have changed. That was 17 years ago," Powell said when asked about his past support for the ban during an appearance on ABC's "This Week." Powell said that he is "personally of the view now that attitudes have changed," adding that it's "perfectly acceptable" to repeal the law so long as the voices of the men and women in charge of executing the policy are heard in the process."
Hopefully more of his party will move forward with him and the rest of the vast majority of Americans.
Powell: "personally of the view now that attitudes have changed,"
Yup, its okay now to allow soldiers, sailors, Airman and Marines within the same units to have sex with each other now. In the old days, allowing troops to bunk with their preferred sexual gender would cause morale problems, but not any more. Those silly notions of sexual or romantic relationships between troops being bad for unit morale and discipline causing a soap opera of personal problems, those notions are old hat.
Its time to repeal those silly centuries old, tried and proven regulations, so we can accommodate a small minority of gays, lesbians and bisexuals.
What on Earth does who you like to screw have to do with military service?
Ahh, we are back to the idea that the reasons for separating men and women, "who you like to screw have to do with military service" was silly. We need to allow men to sleep and shower with women, as long as we have rules in place for forbid unwelcome sexual advances. If the prudish women complain that the guys are ogling them in the showers, tough beans, if they want to be manophobes then maybe the military is not the place for them.
You mean where the straight guys raped the straight guy?
That movie was stupid and rediculous. Worth a laugh or two first time I saw it, never had any desire to watch again. Incidentally, Ned Beatty, a fantastic actor, who has exemplary acting career and I had pleasure of meeting by accident one time in Whitesburg, Ky., at Appalshop (a venue that showcases Appalachian region crafts and plays and music shows and culture, etc.) Ned. It's too bad that mostly he'll be remembered for squealing like a pig and being buggered, and Burt Reynolds big break came from shooting through said rapist with an arrow. I guess what passes for culture and fame in Hollywood is, well, I can find the words for it.
If they raped a man, that makes them bisexual, at the very least.
You still don't get it, do you. Rape is not about sex. Rape is not about the gender of either the rapist or the raped. Rape is about POWER. It is about the rapist feeling he/she has power over the person he/she is raping.

Speaking of gays and " squeeling"-------reminds me of the movie Deliverance.

Huh? Nothing like reading something into a statement that isn't there. Whether you will admit it or not, rape is also a sexual act and your comments are as applicable to the poster to whom I was replying as you think they are to me. Sheesh......
Rape is a crime of power, not sex. Ask any cop, psychologist, criminal behaviors specialist.
