Personally, I'm not donating anything. Haiti will get plenty enough without me and I don't trust the Red Cross or any other international relief after their disastrous handling of 9/11 and Katrina where they basically pocketed all the money.
I agree with you... just today Obama announced we're spending $100+million on the haiti relief effort. 100 million!!

I mean I feel terrible for these people, but thats a lot of dough during a time when our economy is still sucking badly.

so you say "Oh ryanst530, you're so mean spirited! there are people dying and all you can think about is money!"... well let me tell you, without the strength of the US economy, MANY more people will die in places like Haiti since we won't HAVE the money to donate anymore.

I've already collected 1/2 dozen boxes and suitcases of supplies to send down there (not that hard since I do this EVERY YEAR). you can put your money where your petty mouth is, I'll be down there trying to rebuild my families' home or help them relocate

keep using tragedy as a podium for your own crazy agendas, you've already proven you lack common decency to do otherwise. typical of threads on this forum, I can already see this thread dissolving into Walmart/capitalism/socialism/liberal/conservative bashing. not surprised really

*psssst* It's a political forum in case you didn't know

Give China credit where due...we will have to borrow that $100 million, so they're really chipping in $101 million...

Walmart alone donates $600,000 to Haiti

Money of which will be deducted from employees paychecks starting next Tuesday.

Chinese officials seriously ticked off that this months kick back will be delayed.

My G-d, now we're comparing who donated what as if it's some kind of f****** contest?

THERE ARE REAL PEOPLE CRUSHED UNDER CONCRETE RIGHT THIS SECOND. THERE ARE REAL PEOPLE WITH INTERNAL BLEEDING WHO DESPERATELY NEED SURGERY RIGHT THIS SECOND. THERE ARE REAL PEOPLE PILED UP IN THE STREETS BECAUSE THERE'S NO WHERE TO INTER THEM. THERE ARE REAL PEOPLE SLOWLY DYING OF STARVATION AND DEHYDRATION. THERE ARE REAL PEOPLE SUFFERING FEAR, ANXIETY AND ANGER RIGHT THIS VERY SECOND.

AND YOU'RE TURNING THIS INTO A CONTEST OF "WHO GIVES MORE DETERMINES WHO'S THE BETTER PERSON"????

YOU PEOPLE SUCK

Its better than no money at all! In fact its about 60% of what the entire country of China donated (1mil)! Walmart didnt HAVE to pay a dime.. but they did. They even arranged to send pre-arranged meals to victims as well through the red cross.

That is pretty awesome if you ask me.
They should combine their donations as Walmart and China are one and the same. It is the least that they can do. They have cut corners to the detriment of many people to gain their enormous profits and it is time to give back a little. They do not deserve accolades.

Oprah donated $1M already. I'm not a fan of hers, but she is very charitable. You should research these things before making such claims.
