I know they don't have to give a dime, but a mere million seems a little low to me. Surely a supposedly "bustling" country should be able to swing more coin then that.
China is still trying to build out from its own earthquake. And ---as many people may try to swat me on the head for this---China doesn't like black people.
$1 million seems appropriate, considering the cost of living in Haiti and its rampant corruption. The $1 million is somewhat obligatory and much of it will probably be wasted. The primary contributions from nations will be manpower and supplies.
China donated $5 million plus supplies to the US for Katrina.
US donated $500,000 plus supplies to China for the Sichuan earthquake, even though that disaster was 10 times the scale of what happened in Katrina.
And the average American is 9 times wealthier than the average Chinese, and the US 4 times wealthier than China.
A bustling economy doesn't mean wealthy. It usually just means more people are becoming wealthy. In China's case, there are still over half a billion living in poverty we in the US haven't seen in a century.
For someone that is supposedly a dad, that was an incredibly immature and ignorant comment. Feel bad for your kid
