Calling the French people cowards is simply an uncalled for insult.
Who did that? Not I.
I took this entire episode as a lesson in what happens to a people after years of socialism and a nanny state. Heck you don't have to go to France to see it, it was largely repeated in New Orleans.
How about that swine flu that killed over 17,000 Americans?
Well I don't know, did everyone in the CDC take off for their annual vacation, and not bother to watch news while they were gone? It might have interfered with their diving, skiing or whatever else they did on vacation.
Finding French wine and cheese in the US is no problem. Where I currently reside, the selection is very limited, only about 15 French wines.
In France the variety is overwhelming. When in the French supermarche I marveled at the entire (long) aisle, both sides, filled with wine. I'm sure I could drink a different bottle everyday for about two years without drinking the same type twice. Also, the prices are cheaper than here. I certainly appreciate a nice snifter of cognac every now and then. It's great with a cafe noir on a chilly day! Especially in a cafe while watching the people.
Do the French "supermarches" have California wine? Because of course you are aware that California wine surpassed French wine over 30 years ago.
Canadian and Australian cities account for seven of the top ten spots in the Economist Intelligence Unit's latest liveability ranking. Vancouver (Canada) continues to top the Economist Intelligence Unit's global liveability survey with a score of 98%, which bodes well for visitors during the Winter Olympics this year.
All of the top ten cities achieve scores of over 95% and almost half of the cities surveyed (64 of 140) score more than 80% which puts them in the very top tier of liveability. For most cities liveability has been unaffected by the global downturn, which may have hit wages and prices but has had less of an impact on factors that the survey measures like infrastructure or crime levels.
Three in Top-10 are in Canada and four in Australia. Wow!
Also 'liveability' chart.

I was just in Vienna over Thanksgiving & it was wonderful!
What a vibrant city; people use the pedestrian area; museums are plentiful; great coffee shops.
I forgot how much I enjoyed Austria.
I made a short stop to Bratislava while I was in the area.

Wow, that's beautiful.
The whole area is.
I'm not too far from there.
Unfortunately, I don't ski ... but I do hit museums every chance I get.
I like to stroll in small villages, too.
Cesky Kromolov in Czech is lovely and not too far from St Anton. It's hard to get there but there's a great biosphere area nearby.

That is only true among people who prefer boxed wine.
