"When this country belatedly recognized the wrongs of slavery, there were those who dug in their heels and said 'slow down, it's too early, things aren't bad enough.'"

Those people digging in their heels were the politicians of the Democrat Party. Reid can be so vile.

First of all it's Democratic Party, not Democrat Party.

Secondly, it was the Party of Lincoln that freed the slaves. Lincoln was a RINO, didn't you know? He believed in the Federal Government - the true mark of either a Democrat or a RINO.

Yes, and times have changed. Which is why 95% of the descendants of those slaves vote for Democrats and why there have been 90 African American members of Congress since 1920 who were Democrats and 3 (that's three) who were Republicans.

The Black Republican Caucus doesn't exist because there aren't any.

Isn't that ironic:

The DNC Web site section labeled "Party History," linked here, is in fact scrubbed clean of the not-so-little dirty secret that fueled Democrats' political successes for over a century and a half and made American life a hell on earth for black Americans.

This is the most asinine statement to have ever been posted here on CD.

The Pre-WW1 Republicans. Not the southern strategy, ex-dixiecrat Republican party of today. You know, the respectable, decent, not overtly hateful party of Lincoln, in opposed to the party of David Duke, Strom Thurmond, Trent Lott and Richard Nixon.

This country needs a reboot..a total cleansing.
Did you say the same thing when GOP leadership was decrying "death panels?"

Good for you if you did. Otherwise, not so much.

Yes Idahogie..I don't believe either side should resort to the lowball tactics of fear mongering or slandering or bigotry to win acceptance of their issues.

A bill, an agenda, a proposal should stand on it's own.
Welcome the criticism and defend it or change it if the criticism uncovers flaws.
