To here the POTUS talk, you would think that he is going to institute programs not previously in effect. That is simply not true.

The Office of the Inspector General has been overseeing Medicare fraud and abuse for many years now.

I guess you don't think they could do a better job finding fraud and reducing costs or... there is no significant amount of fraud.

Which one do you pick?

The OIG is actively working to fight Medicare fraud and abuse and have been for some time. I can't think of one thing Obama could do that is not already implemented. Can you?

Then you must think that Medicare is efficient.
And if that's the case, a single payer system might be a viable option.

Hi. Today I heard one of THEM talking about the fraud in those Scooter Chairs. The numbers of them that have been bought for people who don't need them. I wonder how THEY find out who does need them and who doesn't. Surely some doctor has to sign on for the purchase. Do you suppose that some doctors do that and then they sell the chairs cheap to people who do need them. Something seems to be there. I wonder if they know about over $60 billion a year in Scooter Chairs. Those things must really be expensive.

I wonder if you really think that single payer wouldn't lead directly to socialized medicine. Do you think like that?

It has nothing to do with Medicare (CMS efficiency). It has everything to do with criminal behavior on the part of people who attempt to defraud the Medicare program. The OIG issues a work plan every year to address Medicare fraud and abuse issues. What is Obama going to do differently? To hear him talk, you would assume he has a new plan. Again, what can Obama do that is not already being done to combat Medicare fraud and abuse? Regarding single payer, what makes you think that criminals won't file false claims under a single payer system?
