The judge presiding over Donald Trump’s $250 million civil fraud trial on Friday fined the former president $5,000 and floated the idea of jailing him for defying a partial gag order requiring him to remove a post trashing the judge's law clerk on social media.
Trump should be jailed for a lot of things but not this it's stupid. This would guarantee him being elected president.
These judges all want their own separate gag orders so that eventually Trump won't even be able to run for president, much less mention his own name in public
It's like a parent who threatens their toddler, but never ever follows through on any of the threats. That's what these judges are really like. All talk no real action.
Well, Trump's constant jawboning certainly isn't helping seat an impartial jury. Thus, the gag order.
An "impartial jury" isn't a guarantee of the outcome of a trial.
Impartial jurors are those who are willing and able to consider the evidence presented at trial without preconceived opinions about the defendant's guilt or innocence, to apply the governing law as instructed by the trial judge, and to deliberate in good faith to render a legally and factually justifiable verdict.
Nor has eight, now going on nine, years of "Trump Bad" playing on network TV night after night.
In 2016 after Trump was nominated the Washington Post ran an anti-Trump story or editorial every day until Election Day, sometimes both.
Following the lead of several network talking heads asking the same question the night of the election it ran a "How Soon Can We Impeach Trump?" editorial a few days later.
I'll go out on a limb and say those things polluted the jury pool as much, if not more, than mean tweets.
Just for the record, I didn't vote for Trump in either a primary or general election.
I blocked him on twitter back in early 2016 and never unblocked him. Mean tweets? The ones who talk about those are the 'pubs/conservatives/maga/maga-adjacent. They are absolutely obsessed with ex-P and his (mean) tweets. Not a week goes by where one of the maga supporters doesn't mention it.

They miss them horribly. Trump's tweets gave them the permission they needed to hate openly.

You know, most candidates talk about what they want to do for the country. They talk about things they hope to accomplish when they get into office, programs they want to start, policies they want to implement, ways they want to benefit the people who elect them. You know, the things that a presidential candidate should talk about. And he can certainly still talk about all of those things.
But Trump has no vision for the country. He has no plans to move the country forward. He's not interested in governing. Nope, he only cares about himself, and so that's all he ever talks about, ad nauseam.
So yeah, I can see that this is going to be a problem for him.
